The Mississippi Department of Transportation is closing two parking areas on U.S. 78 in eastern DeSoto County this week because of safety and public nuisance issues, MDOT announced Tuesday.

The parking areas are at opposite ends of U.S. 78 in the county, one of them about 1.3 miles east of the Miss. 309 interchange and the other about 1.1 miles west of the Bethel Road interchange with U.S. 78.
